Screening of A DOCUMENTARY Made by Partha Bhattacharjee

 

Sir/Madam,

'Jatra', the Folk theatre of Bengal has lost it's true form and foundation. Most of the stalwarts of this ancient art form have either passed away without recognition or living their lives in a dark anonymity.

In a first ever initiative to portrait the history of 'Jatra' and how the art form had contributed to our social history,  Partha Bhattacharjee, the noted Documentary Film maker and Media veteran had made a full length Documentary on Bengal's very own Folk Theatre – "Jatra-Harano Sur" (Jatra-The Lost Tune). He was able to talk to some of the lost stars of 'Jatra –Pala', before they left us.

The first screening of the Film will be held  on : 7^th November, 2012 (Wednesday)
