No ambiguity in my 5-pt proposals: Geelani

Srinagar, Nov 29: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Sunday said that his five-point proposals were clear and there was no ambiguity in it. Reacting to Dilip Padgoankar's statement, Geelani said that his (Padgaonkar) utterances were an attempt to divert from real issue.

"This is permanent and old tactics of New Delhi to create confusion by raking up unnecessary things. If he doesn't understand our proposals, then it puts question mark on his appointment as interlocutor. Our demand that New Delhi should accept Kashmir as dispute can be easily understood by a layman. We have demanded revocation of draconian laws, release of prisoners and punishment to killers of 112 youth and these are not philosophical puzzles which needs explanation," he said in a statement.

Geelani said that he doesn't want to meet the interlocutors, as history stands to testimony that these exercises have failed. "Government of India has been never sincere in resolving Kashmir issue and the appointment of interlocutors has been done to befool world and buy time. If interlocutors would not include our 5- point formula in their roadmap, it would have no impact as New Delhi knows what we want," he said.

About the Delhi court's decision, Geelani said that this was not for the first time but "countless FIRs have been registered against me during my political career." "These tactics failed to deter me from speaking truth. The direction for booking Arundhati Roy, Dr Sheikh Showkat and Professor Geelani are beyond our comprehension. There can be differences with their opinion, but sedition charges against them are injustice and tantamount to suppression of freedom of speech and democratic rights," he said.
