Attack on CPI(M) MPs

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Parliamentary Group strongly condemns the brutal action against CPI(M) Members of Parliament who were marching towards the Parliament along with DYFI, SFI and AIDWA activists demanding the resignation of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, P. J. Kurien following the Supreme Court's direction to re-open the case of the  Suryanelli rape victim.  The victim has since  named  Kurien as one of those involved.



In the police attack, T. N. Seema, CPI(M) Member in the Rajya Sabha and M. B. Rajesh, CPI(M) Member in the Lok Sabha were badly injured and were hospitalized.  They are currently admitted in the Rammanohar Lohia Hospital.



The CPI(M) Parliamentary Group demands a strong action against  those from the Delhi Police who are responsible for such a brutal attack injuring elected Members of Parliament.  As the Delhi Police functions directly under the Union Home Ministry, the Union Home Minister must answer in both the Houses of Parliament.
