Circular No.-76 01-10-2012
My dear
It has been my experience that we are influenced by emotions or caste equations more than anything else. Those who use fiery words or abusive language particularly against Brahminism, they muster more support because this soothes the mind of common people and not the real work. They plan imaginary goal to befool the people that they are going to change the society. For several years, such people have been organizing cadre camps and holding meetings and conferences but the community as a whole has hardly got any tangible benefits from them. In fact, they make tall claims which have hardly anything to do with the systemic changes in the society. The second approach is to consolidate the caste and go on harping on the deeds of some great of social reformers. People who have mastered the art of organizing people on caste lines, have also succeeded in acquiring money and political power. The All India Confederation of SC/ST Organiztions, on the other hand, has been concentrating on the current issues and on methods for bringing about systemic changes in the society. Practical approach to problems look less attractive to people and imaginary and lofty promises which influence people more easily just like what is shown in the movies which is far away from the reality.
Had we not faced these problems, the Confederation would have become an alternative in the country. 81st, 82nd and 85th Constitutional Amendments are the outcome of the struggle of the Confederation. On November 4, 2001, lakhs of people were converted to Buddhism with a view to spread the cause of Buddhism in India. The issue of reservation in the private sector was started by the Confederation. When the Constitution was being reviewed, we were in the forefront. Struggle for reservation for Backwards was launched and fought by us in 2006. Despite so much of achievements proportionate response has not come from the people.
The so-called Ambedkarites overtly talk about annihilation of caste and dalit unity but covertly they are engaged in caste consolidation. Many of them bother about my caste and also accuse me that I have formed a political party to make some personal gains but the fact is that my commitment to the Confederation is total and the formation of the political party has been quite helpful to the Confederation in achieving its goals. I have indeed been a great victim of this vile propaganda. Presently I am in the grip of sadness due to which I am having depression. It is not so that I have not been able to achieve my personal goals but it is due to the fact that desired objectives to uplift the society have not been achieved. Most of the Confederation leaders do not care to keep track of things after the rally nor do they remain active. Only a few leaders concentrate in strengthening the organization. Is it only my duty to work for the welfare of the community? If our movement becomes weak, the future of dalits will become dark. If you find any truth in my statements, then I appeal to you to take active interest and make all out efforts to ensure that maximum number of people take part in the rally. Without financial support, rally cannot become successful and I appeal you that some funds may be deposited in account No. 30899921752 in favour of All India Confederation of SC/ST Organizations, State Bank of India, Chandralok Building, Janpath, New Delhi. It will be very much appreciated if I am kept informed about the preparedness of the rally on your part.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
(Udit Raj)
