Today the citizens of Bombay gathered at the Asiatic Society to condemn the murder of the secular progressive writer by the extremist violent elements of the Hindutva rightwing. This is the third murder after the loss of the rational reformist Narayan Dhabolkar and the great Writer and Thinker Com Pansare. All the 3 were murdered in the early hours of the morning. Leading citizens such as Anand Patwardhan Com Vasudevan Ram Puniyani Adv Susan Abraham Kapil Patil Subodh More and many other Human Rights activists, students, Trade Union leaders, all joined the protests. The police refused to let us continue our peaceful protest even as we stated that the same is our democratic right. We refused to be arrested and taken away in Police Vans and decided to march to Azad Maidan and despite opposition from the police, they escorted our march.
