Dear Ashokji, Here is a brief account of our efforts in this direction. Firstly, I had to convince the authorities in SSA that the provision of 25% free admissions of children belonging to disadvantaged and weaker sections holds good for pre-primary education as well. Then, I approached authorities of Agrasen High School, an unaided private school, and explained the provision. But when they returned several parents of such children and even refused to receive application of one such parent accompanied by me, I submitted a complaint to the Shikshan-Pramukh, Shikshan-Mandal against the school on behalf of ARC (Action for the Rights of the Child), an umbrella organisation I am member of. I also wrote to a member of Protection of Child Rights Commission regarding this and one more such school. As a result, Shikshan- Pramukh called the Principal of Agrasen School for a hearing on this matter on 24th of March, where he invited us as well. The Principal was thereby directed to implement the Act. With best wishes J. Wale from Pune (Maharashtra)
