Mamata Banerjee 9 hours ago Creating job and self-employment opportunities have always been a priority area for our Government.

Creating job and self-employment opportunities have always been a priority area for our Government.

During last 3 years, lakhs of jobs have been created and my brothers and sisters in huge numbers have got employment as Engineers, Doctors,Officers, Teachers, Nurses, Technicians, Assistants and in so many other categories.

Bengal has tremendous scope in rural businesses, given the abundance of natural resources and the availability of a skilled workforce.

To strike a synergy between the two and move towards successful and sustainable entrepreneurship, we are about to launch a unique business hub - “Karma Tirtha”.

It will be a one-stop shop where entrepreneurs will market their products directly to buyers.

Our Government is providing all support to set up the infrastructure, provide training, finance and create market linkages with prospective buyers, so that doing business in Bengal for our youth will receive a new thrust and a new dimension.

Individuals, self-help groups, co-operative enterprises, particularly women, artisans, weavers, minority community and SC/ST/OBC/youth entrepreneurs availing self-employment schemes of the Government will benefit significantly under this scheme.

Right now, 229 “Karma Tirtha” hubs have already been sanctioned all over the State. 44 are ready and will be flagged off in phases from 1st August onwards when I will be at Bankura.

Our government plans to set up atleast one Karma Tirtha in every Block of the state within next year.

A map showing the places where the Karma Tirthas will come up is given here for all of you to see.

I thought of sharing this information with all of you.
