Dear All:

As you know, Montgomery County Executive Hon. Isiah Leggett and Montgomery County Council in collaboration with Montgomery County Muslim Council and Montgomery County Muslim Foundation have celebrated Ramadan Iftar on Friday, September 3, 2010. Montgomery County Executive Hon. Isiah Leggett and Council President Hon. Nancy Floreen have jointly given a Proclamation in commemoration of the Ramadan Celebration.

It is worthy to mention here that Ramadan month is officially celebrated in only three places in the USA (please correct me if I'm wrong) despite the fact that this country has 50 state and hundreds of County, City and Local governments. Even New York, Los Angeles, Detroit, Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Northern Virginia, New Jersey, Washington DC and many County and City governments never observe Ramadan celebration officially where thousands and thousands Muslims live. http://picasaweb.google.com/Commissioner.AnisAhmed/MontgomeryCountyRamadanIftarCelebration2010#

List of places where Ramadan is officially celebrated:
1. White House, since 1991 (hosted by the US President);
2. Maryland Governor's Mansion, since 2007 (Annapolis, Maryland, hosted by the Governor);
3. Montgomery County Government Building, since 2009 (Montgomery County, Maryland, hosted by the County Executive and County Council).

A scanned Proclamation copy of the Ramadan Celebration is attached herewith for your kind knowledge.
Also, go to the following link to see the detail news published in the Montgomery County Government's official website.
