Woman's Kidney Goes Missing 'Post-Surgery'

altJALANDHAR – Mystery surrounds the disappearance of a kidney of a Phagwara based woman, who was operated upon for a gall bladder condition in July allegedly in a hospital on Hoshiarpur Road in Phagwara. She could only discover that her kidney was missing after undergoing an abdominal scan recently.

Sanjogita, a 45-year-old woman, a resident of Friends Colony in Phagwara, who found her right kidney missing, had recently complained of abdominal pain. Doctors advised her to undergo tests and it was discovered that her kidney was missing although her kidney was clearly seen in the abdominal scans performed on her prior to the surgery.

The shocking case came to light today when her husband, Harish Kumar, a smalltime transporter addressed the media here today.

"My wife was admitted to a hospital on the evening of July 22. She underwent a scan and was diagnosed to be suffering from gall bladder sludge. But the next day (July 23), I went home to get some stuff. When I came back I saw that that the hospital surgeon had already taken my wife Sanjogita Devi to be operated upon without even informing me about it."

Kumar said when his wife was brought out of the operation theatre she was bleeding profusely and the doctor advised that she be taken to the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC), Ludhiana.
