Protests Turn Deadly, 20 Shot Dead In Single Day

Srinagar, Sep 13, KONS- Widespread protest demonstrations that broke out across Kashmir, despite a stringent curfew on Monday and subsequent police firing to control the furious protests,  left at least 20 people, including a woman and two teenagers, dead and 400 more injured. The condition of at least 14 injured, lying in various hospitals, was stated to be grim.
The protests, initially triggered by a report about the desecration of holy Qur'an in the US, quickly turned into an anti-India upsurge with protesters clashing with government forces and targeting whatever government property came their way.
The massive use of force against the protesters fuelled further anger across length and breadth of the state with people in thousands coming out of their homes in defiance of curfew and joining the protests.
The day began with violence in Ajas, Bandipur where a small protest demonstration taken out against the desecration of holy Qur'an was fired upon by the government forces. One villager, Nisar Ahmad Bhat, was killed on the spot and three others were injured.
As the news spread thousands of people began pouring out in the streets defying curfew and clashing with the police and CRPF.
In Tangmarg government forces opened fire after furious protesters chanting anti-US and Anti-India slogans took to roads. According to KNS the procession was raked with gunfire and 12 persons fell to the ground with bullet injuries. Two of them died instantly while many more were critically injured and rushed to hospitals.
At least 40 people were injured in police action in Shopian.
One person, Rafiq Ahmad Teli,  was killed in CRPF a firing at Chanakhan in Sopore.

Asalamu-Aliakum,

In fact, Idara is running short of funds. There has been negligible
donations pouring in due to civil disturbance in Kashmir for the last
four months . On the other hand, the number of destitute have
increased substantially. We are passing through  difficult situation
and pray to Allah for  success. Insha-Allah! we are and shall continue
to carry on the noble mission with the help of Allah. You may
hopefully guide us at this juncture.

Wasalam

Mirza Rafiq Ahmed
